Schuljahr 2008/2009 wollen wir über den
Adobe Connect Server des
Landesinstituts für Pädagogik und Medien (Saarbrücken) auch
Online-Fachvorträge mit anschließender Diskussion anbieten. Zusagen habe wir bis jetzt von
Thomas Narosy von der E-Lisa Academy und
Prof. Peter Baumgartner von der
Donau-Universität Krems.

Fürs Programmheft schickte mir Sean folgenden Vorschlag für eine Legende:
Current news stories provide a wealth of written and audio texts that can be of immense relevance to students' interests and lives. News has the ability of immersing a foreign learner's interest in a story even in a language they are studying. This can provide a considerable degree of motivation for students to interact with the news story and the media used to present it. Students can also bring into the classroom their own background knowledge of events surrounding the news. However, the fleeting nature of news can make it difficult to introduce in classrooms in a timely manner that maintains the authenticity of the story. Maintaining authenticity has many benefits to both teacher and students in creating an engaging and dynamic classroom environment. The presenter will describe his rational for using current news stories with his students. He will also present the reactions of 8 classes of pre-intermediate students to studying English through current events. The students are young Arab women who are rarely exposed to news media of any kind in the course of their lives."
